Indian media reports that a total of 6,491 COVID-19 cases have been reported so far in India, coinciding with the global spread of a new COVID variant.
According to the reports, 7 new cases were detected within the last 24 hours. The state of Kerala has been identified as the most affected by the outbreak of the new variant.
Alongside Kerala, the number of active cases has significantly risen in other states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Haryana.
Since January 1 this year, a total of 65 COVID-related deaths have been reported. These deaths were recorded from Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Delhi, according to Indian media.
