The ferry service between Nagapattinam, India, and Kankesanthurai, Sri Lanka, resumed operations on Saturday, February 22, after being suspended for two months due to unfavorable weather conditions, Indian media reported.
According to Daily Thanthi, the vessel departed from Nagapattinam port with 83 passengers and will now operate six days a week, excluding Tuesdays.
The ferry service was temporarily halted on November 18, 2024, following adverse weather conditions that affected travel between the two countries.
Passengers are allowed to carry up to 10 kg of luggage, with additional fees applicable for exceeding the limit, DT Next reported.
The resumption of this service is expected to strengthen travel and trade ties between India and Sri Lanka.
