The Ministry of Public Security has announced that 10,000 legally retired military personnel under the age of 45 will be recruited into the Sri Lanka Police service.

The announcement was made by Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala during the opening ceremony of the Thambuttegama Superintendent of Police Office.

He said that a Cabinet paper proposing the five-year recruitment of these individuals will be submitted for approval at today’s (June 9) Cabinet meeting.The Minister also revealed that around 7,880 children have currently been identified as being at risk of drug abuse
