According to the Department of Census and Statistics, 15.1% of Sri Lankans lost their jobs in 2023 due to the economic crisis.
The data also shows that a higher percentage of men lost either their main or secondary jobs compared to women.

Key findings from the final Household Survey report:

• 60.5% of households saw a drop in monthly income
  
• 91.1% of households faced increased monthly expenses
  
• 22% of households fell into debt
  
• 7% of the population did not receive proper healthcare
